BIO
Artist and Designer, Morné Ferreira, celebrates his South African homeland's most precious resource in an imposing series of canvases titled Diamond Studies. His work on this subject dates back more than 8 years when he began sharing a work studio with his future husband, Mark Leonard Paulk, a long time fixture in New York's high jewelry world. Morné's interest in abstraction and "micro-scapes" lead to a study of faceting and light dispersion in various gemstone species. An eventual request by Mark to paint an important client's recent acquisition, a 20+ carat D Flawless Type llA Step Cut Diamond, inspired a work of undeniable power and fascination. Morné's long history of work in and around the most important jewelry houses has instilled him with a unique understanding of lapidary design and color in brilliant gems. Morné lives and works in New York.
